As China is making conscious efforts to gradually liberalise its capital market, the demand for outbound investments from qualified Chinese asset owners has been steadily increasing. As a result, InvesTAO, an independent placement agent, is launching an RFI to help Chinese asset owners to identify quality investment opportunities and strategies focusing on the developed market.
The initial RFI will allude to a comprehensive RFP at a later stage. Upon the successful identification and selection of a global equity, European equity or asset allocation strategy, a potential fund launched via China’s Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor (“QDII”) scheme will be aimed for 2022.
This RFI search, led by InvesTAO, is open for Alpha-seeking active asset managers registered in the UK, EU and the EEA markets. You will be asked in this application to demonstrate your outperformance track record, managing global or European equity strategies for at least five years.
Two finalists will be selected in each category and will be invited to interview and meet with selected Chinese asset owners taking place in winter 2021.
Upon positive outcome of meeting with potential QDII investors, a formal RFP will commence, followed by investment and manager due diligence. On the basis of fulfilling all the regulatory requirements in China, the Chinese QDII investor will aim to launch a QDII fund based on the winning RFP submitted by the European asset manager in 2022.
